Look at the eyes!

More meditations

Some depictions of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the Great Heart of our God are very strong and forceful in their execution and some are tender, gentle, and yet most powerful, I think this is one of them.

This Christos has a most appealing face and gesture which says, Come to my Heart, do not focus merely on my miracles and wonders but gaze on love!!!!

The eyes are compassionate and full of love...Christ's robe is blue the symbol of Hope, and we can always hope in his promises for he is faithful and he will always honour what he has promised us.

We do not always need new and innovative methods to feed our faith but we do well to deepen our existing knowledge and love of what we have within our beautiful catholic tradition and pictures certainly fall into this category. And did mankind ever need to know more that God is and that he loves us, poor and sinful as we are.

Mary's Image in art...

Meditations from the Poor Clare Colettine TMD

Here we have another comparatively simple artists reproduction as to how he/she perceives Mary the Mary of God to be.... the picture on a dark background is divested of any superfluities in order that its message may be clearly seen.Mary draws us to the true heart of the matter of all life and existence.. LOVE... for without love we have nothing. The right hand of Mary lays across her Immaculate heart, what is she doing ? surely she is communing with her God, with her Father and Son, in the Holy Spirit. As I have looked at various pictures of Mary there is one lesson that I think everyone can learn and certainly I myself and that is a greater humility.

Appreciation of art is often very subjective and precisely for this reason when we encounter religious art that does not appeal to us or even that we might find rather distasteful, providing the work is not deliberately morally erosive or wrong we may think what we like, but be very prudent in sharing our negative views. For this reason, to someone this piece of art, that drawing, those statues may have been and are means of grace, love, communion and consolation, for the Holy Spirit can use what he wills. Look at all through the eyes of a child.

Act of Consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary

I.
I venerate thee with all my heart, O Virgin most holy, above all Angels and Saints in paradise, as the daughter of the Eternal Father, and to thee I consecrate my soul with all its powers.
Hail Mary...

II.
I venerate thee with all my heart, O Virgin most holy, above all Angels and Saints in paradise, as the Mother of the only begotten Son, and to thee I consecrate my body with all its senses. Hail Mary...

III.
I venerate thee with all my heart, O Virgin most holy, above all Angels and Saints in paradise, as the beloved Spouse of the Spirit of God, and to thee I consecrate my heart and all its affections, imploring thee to obtain for me from the Most Holy Trinity all the means of salvation.
Hail Mary...

Mary's Sweet Perfume

I am using this picture of Mary to illustrate a point, and that is the fascinating and beautiful manifestations of 'a heavenly perfume' often recorded in the lives of Saints and in appearances of the Holy Mother of God.

Although it is true that we live by faith, God can also touch us, communicate with us, through our senses. I think the manifestation of heavenly perfumes is a very lovely and beautiful grace that will only be understood by those who have the hearts of Children.

The Picture of Mary above is intended to depict her Immaculate and perfect heart of love, but see that the artist has done so by placing roses in her heart, and so her heart is truly an open rose, exuding all sweetness and drawing men to her beauty. Note also the sword! for it is a truly suffering love for Christ that makes the human person beautiful.

I have sent you an account of recently approved appearances of Mary at Laus, Our Lady of Laus (Praise), it is situated high up in the alps and what touched me was that the place is known, although they cannot say expressly why, to exude sweet perfume, and in this months St. Anthony's Messenger the Bishop of Laus himself states that he has perceived it. It is a very simple story reminiscent of Saint Bernadette and Lourdes.

Spend some time today thinking of the Divine perfume that accompanies Mary, it is a breath of heaven.

Hannah's Tears

Poor Clare Colettine ~ thoughts, prayers, meditations...November 10

Dear Little hearts,

There are many ways in which we can come into communion with our God, there are many ways of praying and focusing on God and his Kingdom.... being human we need that focus, that word, that picture, sound, fragrance that will touch us from another world.... and it is through our senses that we so often perceive him.

The world of Christian art is one that we would do well to explore, we are bombarded with so many images of violence, decadence and horror, we can see it daily in our papers and on cyberspace, we need to make our contribution in redeeming this as it were by our own turning to the good, the beautiful, the divine.

If we look around at the world of art there are literally thousands of religious images, paintings etc.... of varying degrees of beauty, much may not be to our personal taste, but if we look for good we will find it, if we seek we will find and even the poorest presentation can speak to us simply because the Holy Spirit can use anything in this world for good.

I have thinking that if one were involved in an earth tremor and everything fell around one, the world closing in on us like a box, or if we were caste into a prison camp or other evil experience, the very poorest of presentations of God, Jesus, Mary, the angels would in fact speak to us... this would not be a time for the great and beautiful pictures of say the renaissance or a work of a great master.... but we could have to hand the cheapest, poorest of images... and it would speak!!!

All religious paintings can speak if we allow them too.

The point I am trying to make is let there be room for all in our appreciation, for God can speak through all and in fact He often does.

There are for instance if we explore the matter thousands of images of Mary the Mother of God, no one picture can fully capture her beauty, indeed the sum of them all can only ever captivate a slight reflection of all she is, and this is certainly true of images of Our Lord, but they can sew good seeds in our minds and they can be a very good point of mediation.

Especially when we are tired and not terribly able for one reason or the other to attend to the written word, or even the silence because we are restless and unfocused. At such times take a picture, and just rest in its presence. Note the content, the form, the colours, and see how it relates to you now.

I am going to share some pictures with you over the next few days, they may well not be pictures I am personally initially attracted to but that is besides the point.... lets see what we will find.

God bless you all.

The picture below is a depiction of the Sacred heart of Jesus, the very first thing one notices is the beautiful red garment of love, the Robe of Christ, not only is the garment a luminous red, but the whole image seems to be drenched in light. The light emulating not only from the symbol of Gods heart but from above as the forehead of Christ is crowned with light. Not only is Christ holding his heart out to you, irrespective of who you are or where you are on your journey, but he is drawing attention to the fact it is a crucified heart and if we too are going to be his followers and lovers we too will know suffering. The Blue green of the background is a symbol of Hope and Life and through his love he came to give us life in abundance. May God grant you some blessing through this image and if anything in it speaks to you, do feel free to share it.

This was sent to us by the Poor Clare Colettine Nuns from Wales, be sure to look them up on the internet, they are very faithful prayer warriors for anyone in need. Thank you dear sisters for all of your support!

Josepha Naval Girbes

Josepha Naval Girbes was born at Algemesi in the Archdiocese of Valencia, Spain, on December 11, 1820. As a very young woman she consecrated herself to the Lord by a perpetual vow of chastity. Josepha's life was simple. She stood out for her ardent love, and she made progress along the way of prayer and evangelical perfection while dedicating herself generously to apostolic works in her parish community. In her own home she opened a school where she taught needlework, prayer, and the evangelical virtues. She formed many young girls and women and shared with them her wisdom and spiritual understanding. She was a member of the Third Order Secular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St. Teresa of Jesus and had a special love for the Virgin Mother of God. Her holy death took place on February 24, 1893. She is buried in her parish church of St. James in her native city.

Opening Prayer

O God,
through the new leaven of the Gospel,
You call men and women and empower them
to serve You faithfully in secular life.
Grant that they may fervently imitate
the example of Blessed Josepha,
and, through her intercession,
work tirelessly as true Christians to build up Your kingdom
by fulfilling their duties in the world.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son,
Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

Prayer over the Gifts

Lord,
we see the wonder of Your love
in the life of the virgin Josepha
and her witness to Christ.
Accept our gifts of praise
and make our offering pleasing to you.
Grant this through Christ our Lord.

Communion Antiphon
The bridegroom is here; let us go out to meet Christ the Lord.

Prayer after Communion

Lord God,
may this Eucharist renew our courage and strength.
May we remain close to You like Bl. Josepha
by accepting in our lives
a share in the suffering of Jesus Christ,
Who lives and reigns with You for ever and ever.

First Reading
Corinthians 1: 26-31
For consider your call, brethren; not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth; but God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong, God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. He is the source of your life in Christ Jesus, whom God made our wisdom, our righteousness and sanctification and redemption; therefore, as it is written, "Let him who boasts, boast of the Lord."

Responsorial Psalm
R/. Keep my soul in peace before You, O Lord.
Psalm 130

Gospel
Matthew 11:25-30
At that time Jesus declared, "I thank thee, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to babes; yea, Father, for such was thy gracious will. All things have been delivered to me by my Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and any one to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

Our Lady Who Brings Victory!

Prayer to the Virgin Mary as Untier of Knots

Holy Mary, full of the presence of God during your life you accepted with great humility the Holy Will of the Father and the legacy of your Son Our Lord Jesus Christ.

Evil never dared to entangle you with its confusion. Since then you have interceded for all of our difficulties. With all simplicity and patience you have given us example on how to untangle the knots in our complicated lives. By being our Mother forever, you arrange and make clear the path that unites us to Our Lord. Holy Mary, Mother of God and ours, with your maternal heart untie the knots that upset our lives. We ask you to receive in your hands ( mention who or prayer request) and deliver us from the chains and confusions that have us restrained. Blessed Virgin Mary, through your grace, your intercession and by your example, deliver us from evil and untie the knots that keep us from uniting with God, so that once free of every confusion and error, we may find Him in all things, have Him in our hearts and serve him always in our brothers and sisters. Mother of Good Counsel pray for us . Amen

All Souls Day

Let Him Guide You!
"Jesus Christ, the true light that enlightens everyone"

Merciful Father,
hear our prayer and console us.
As we renew our faith in Your Son,
whom You raised from the dead,
strengthen our hope that all
our departed brothers and sisters
will share in His resurrection,
who lives and reigns with
You and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen

"Be Not Afraid"

Jesus carries You!

"Be Not Afraid"

What Pope John Paul II taught us.

Although this article was written in 2005, I feel that this is what we all need to be reminded of, "Be Not Afraid!" We must place our entire trust in Our Lord and in his mother, who is our mother. This is so important that we turn our minds and hearts to our family in Heaven, Jesus, Mary all the Saints and Souls that have gone before us. There is so much fear and distress these days, let us lift our hearts and minds to Christ who is our hope, our eternal hope.

As we waite for the elections in the U.S., let us turn our hearts to Jesus and Mary in our prayers. We ask those that are not U.S. citizens to please pray for Americans these next few days, please lift us in prayer, that we have hope in the Lord and a faithful trust. Let the act of our very will unite our heart and our sufferings to the body and blood of Christ in holy Eucharist.

Something else that I would like to share is the song (click here) "Be Not Afraid", these lyrics have been ringing in my heart for many months, I felt they were important to share with you.

"Be Not Afraid"

1. You shall cross the barren desert, but you shall not die of thirst. Youshall wander far in safety though you do not know the way. You shall speakyour words in foreign lands and all will understand. You shall see the faceof God and live.

R. Be not afraid. I go before you always. Come follow me, and I will giveyou rest.

2. If you pass through raging waters in the sea, you shall not drown. Ifyou walk amid the burning flames, you shall not be harmed. If you stand before the pow'r of hell and death is at your side, know that I am with youthrough it all.

3. Blessed are your poor, for the kingdom shall be theirs. Blest are youthat weep and mourn, for one day you shall laugh. And if wicked men insultand hate you all because of me, blessed, blessed are you!

May God bless you!

Poor Clare Colettine Nuns ~ Meditation Litany 19

Shrine of the Spirit, pray for us.

Vas spirituale, ora pro nobis.

In the shadow of any Christian shrine we can make the experience of it being a blessing, a source of new life, a renewal in God... a Shrine is a geographical place that is especially graced of God for our good, for our consolation, and it enables us to re-focus our lives.

It is a place of pilgrimage a place of grace. The same can be said of Our Most Holy Mother Mary, she is the shrine supreme, the perfect shrine of the Holy Spirit..... if we turn to her, trust her Gods Spirit within her will bless us too.

She is Mother yes, she walks with us through this vale of tears, yes, but she is also the very Queen of Heaven and her eyes draw us upward.

Prayer for Saint Hannah

Many of you may be searching for a prayer to Saint Hannah. I am not sure that there is one for St. Hannah of the Old Testament, but in the New Testament, St. Anne the mother of Mary is also know as "Hannah".

So, if you are looking for a prayer to St. Hannah, we would recommend praying the "Old Testament Litany" and also the novena to Saints Anne and Joachim, this novena is a prayer for faith and perseverance and also for those who are desiring to conceive new life.

Patron Saint of Infertile Men

PRAYER TO ST. NICHOLAS OF MYRA O Saint Nicholas, bountiful Father and special Patron of our Byzantine Catholic Church. You are a shepherd and teacher to all who invoke your protection, and who, by devout prayer, call upon you for aid. Hasten and save the flock of Christ from ravenous wolves; and by your holy prayers protect all Christians and save them from worldly disturbances, earthquakes, attacks from abroad, from internal strife, from famine, flood, fire, sword, and sudden death. As you had mercy on those three men in prison and saved them from the king's wrath, now also have mercy on me who by word, deed, and thought have sunk into the darkness of sin. Save me from the just anger of God, and from eternal punishment. Through your intercession and aid as well as through his own mercy and grace, may Christ our God allow me to lead a tranquil and sinless life, and save me from standing at "his left," but deem me worthy to stand at "his right" with all the saints. Amen.

Mary Mater Dolorosa

Stabat Mater Dolorósa

At the cross her station keeping
stood the mournful Mother weeping,
close to Jesus to the last.

Through her heart, His sorrow sharing,
all His bitter anguish bearing
now at lenght the sword had passed.

Oh, how sad and sore distressed
was that Mother highly blessed,
of the sole-begotten One!

Christ above in torment hangs,
she beneath beholds the pangs
of her dying, glorious Son.

Is there one who would not weep,
'whelmed in miseries so deep,
Christ's dear Mother to behold?

Can the human heart refrain
from partaking in her pain,
in that Mother's pain untold?

Bruised, derided, cursed, defiled,
she beheld her tender Child
All with scourges rent.

For the sins of His own nation,
saw Him hang in desolation,
Till His spirit forth He sent.

O sweet Mother! fount of love!
Touch my spirit from above,
make my heart with thine accord.

Make me feel as thou hast felt;
make my soul to glow and melt
with the love of Christ, my Lord.

Holy Mother! pierce me through,
in my heart each wound renew
of my Savior crucified.

Let me share with thee His pain,
who for all our sins was slain,
who for me in torments died.

Let me mingle tears with thee,
mourning Him who mourned for me,
all the days that I may live.

By the Cross with thee to stay,
there with thee to weep and pray,
is all I ask of thee to give.

Virgin of all virgins blest!,
Listen to my fond request:
let me share thy grief divine;

Let me, to my latest breath,
in my body bear the death
of that dying Son of thine.

Wounded with His every wound,
steep my soul till it hath swooned,
in His very Blood away;

Be to me, O Virgin, nigh,
lest in flames I burn and die,
in His awful Judgment Day.

Christ, when Thou shalt call me hence,
by Thy Mother my defense,
by Thy Cross my victory;

While my body here decays,
may my soul Thy goodness praise,
safe in paradise with Thee. Amen.

"The Mother Who Suffers With Us"

Mary and Gethsemane

Night had fallen, the stars already dressed in mourning, the sky clouded as the mind of man.
Mary, Mater Dolorosa..
Fear and dread her heart knew, she perceived within her very soul that pain, that anguish which were the very cries of her suffering son kneeling in the Garden Gethsemane .
Mary, Mater Dolorosa.
The awareness that bound heart to heart, knit soul to soul, that inner 'knowing' when the beloved is afflicted or in pain... even though the miles stretch out a thousand miles....even though an ocean divided them..............
The pain of love that knows not separation but union, because it knows what befalls the one who suffers, it embraces it all within its own heart. Such was the pain of Mary, a sword pierced her heart, the sword of sorrow for the suffering of her son.
Christ knelt in bloody sweat within the darkened garden, abandoned by his sleeping followers, crying out in silent tears..................
Mary knelt within the walls of Jerusalem, the city of peace that knew not peace, and wept...... she knew and bore it all within her...........he was Flesh of her Flesh, Blood of her Blood, their hearts a burning sacrifice of love unto God.
Jesus her son, Yeshuah, born of her body, fruit of her Espousal to the Spirit, she knew his anguish, she heard his every sigh, she counted every drop of blood, she knew the price of mans redemption..........
His suffering, his dying and his death...............
O' Mary, Mater Dolorosa.
Mary knelt in her Gethsemane, crushed in the wine vat of the Walls of Jerusalem, crushed by the lovelessness and sin of the many, and gently fell the tears... tears that love was rejected and that all too soon, all too soon, her son, her only son was to pass beyond her arms into the embrace of death.
She knew, for all that passed through his heart passed through hers, she knew, and she prayed..
She experienced the struggle......and at a consummate moment the Spirit whispered,
"Father! thy will be done", and she, "Fiat, My God, Fiat..................
A stillness enveloped her, a breathless moment, then, wings of a mighty angel enfolded her, exuding drops of blood ........................... consolation filled her soul

Meditation from the Poor Clare Colettine Nuns ~ October 23

Mirror of Justice, Pray for us.

Speculum justitiae, ora pro nobis. Mary truly is the mirror of God, this is a most beautiful image and reality, that Mary reflects to the world, to her children the very attributes of God, she mirrors Christ and all things in him. All virtues and all goodness are reflected in the mirror that Mary is. The mirror image was so loved by the medieval mystics and it is well worth exploring and contemplating, indeed our Holy Mother Clare invites us to do so, she sees Christ as the mirror of eternity and all good and exhorts us to look into this mirror daily. Mary is a mirror of love, a mirror of mercy, a mirror of compassion , a mirror of justice and every good. How blessed we are are to be loved by her. She is NOT God, she is a reflection a mirror of the Divine Goodness...... this is so beautiful, and we have to realise that this too for us is our vocation to be mirrors of Christ and of Mary, in other words that others should see in us something of their goodness and truth, because it is by and large through mankind that man finds God. Through the witness and confession of others. Gaze upon Mary, look into the mirror of her face, choose your favourite picture and look deep within in that picture, that mirror, because all great works of art were created through the action of the Holy Spirit and you can read the picture with your heart.

Meditation from the Poor Clare Colettine Nuns ~ October 20

Virgin Most Powerful Pray for Us!

Mary, mother, daughter, woman and spouse is indeed, powerful. Powerful not according to the eyes of the world but according to grace. She is the vessel so full of the Holy Spirit, so full of that love which is perfect that it gives her power that no other creature on this earth will ever possess. The power of a totally and utterly pure love. We can often find ourselves in situations where we feel, powerless, unable to create change, an impression or impact, in such situations we must surrender to the power of her love, to Mary's prayers and intercession. Trust in Mary at all times she will lead us forward into the future and she will be with us no matter what it may hold. Mary most powerful, pray for us.

Saint Luke ~ Physician and Artist

St. Luke the Apostle, was a doctor and painter. Let us ask him for his intercession for those in need of spiritual, and physical healing, as well as for our Catholic doctors and nurses.

The other day a Catholic doctor from my parish shared with me that she never begins a procedure without saying a "Hail Mary". She also shared with me that she shared this with another Catholic doctor that she works with. As she feels that her procedures never fail when she gives her all to Mary.

Let us also remind our Catholic doctors and nurses, that they are also called to have faith within their vocation of healing. They need our support and prayers as well as we need them for physical healing. Nothing can be accomplished without out GREAT FAITH, this is what St. Luke teaches us, as he also had in his ministry, a great faith in the one true God and a love for Mary the mother of Christ.

St. Luke was also the artist who painted Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
Let us all run to Mary, who is our perpetual helper and handmaid. She who is our Mother!

Below are some prayer groups that the Catholic medical field has put together, as well as Saint Gianna, who was a Catholic doctor, wife and mother, who died after giving birth to her daughter.

Prayers and Support for the Roman Catholic Medical Field

St. Luke, pray for us, who need great faith in these times of struggle and healing in a time of pain and sorrow. Amen.

I would like to humbly apologize to any of you that received the message that was sent out in regards to using plastic items, etc... I am deeply sorry. The message below is from Myths about Dioxins and Freezing Plastic Water bottles from jhsph.edu . Email Hoax Regarding Freezing Water Bottles and Microwave Cooking

The Internet is flooded with messages warning against freezing water in plastic bottles or cooking with plastics in the microwave oven. These messages, frequently titled “Johns Hopkins Cancer News” or “Johns Hopkins Cancer Update,” are falsely attributed to Johns Hopkins and we do not endorse their content. Freezing water does not cause the release of chemicals from plastic bottles. In general, it is best to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations when using any plastic products. When cooking with plastics, only use those plastic containers, wraps, bags and utensils for their intended purposes. The U.S. Department of Agriculture Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS) has some helpful guidelines for cooking with plastics in microwave ovens.

Prayer to Redeem Lost Time
O my God! Source of all mercy! I acknowledge Your sovereign power. While recalling the wasted years that are past, I believe that You, Lord, can in an instant turn this loss to gain. Miserable as I am, yet I firmly believe that You can do all things. Please restore to me the time lost, giving me Your grace, both now and in the future, that I may appear before You in "wedding garments." Amen.

Prayer to Saint Teresa of Avila
Dear wonderful Saint, model of fidelity to vows, you gladly carried a heavy cross following in the steps of Christ who chose to be crucified for us. You realized that God, like a merciful Father, chastises those whom he loves - which to worldlings seems silly indeed. Grant to {name of sufferer} relief from great pains, if this is in line with God's plans.

Remembering Fatima ~ October 13, 2008

Meditation from the Poor Clare Nuns ~ October 13

Mother of Good Counsel (pray for us). This is a beautiful and consoling title for Mary, and one we know from experience that it is so true. The Mother who loves us, prays for us, cares for us will always give us 'good counsel' if we go to her.

We may attempt to find answers, solutions to many of our problems and sufferings in many different places and with many different people. But ultimately the best counsel we can receive is from Mary. She whose son is called, WONDERFUL Counsellor, Mighty God, PRINCE OF PEACE!!! Because what ever she guides us to do in prayer will be for our good and the glory of her son, Jesus. No advice could be better!! What does she say to us? Do whatever he tells you! .... not what we think, what others think, but what he tells us.... this we can discern in prayer and through the revelation of Holy Scripture and the beautiful teachings of the Church.

Let our advisors be few but rather go straight to the hearts of our Blessed Mother and our Most Holy Jesus!!!! Mother of Good counsel pray for us to have the wisdom to know where true life is!!!! only in your SON. The counsel we receive may not be what we want to hear but if we are obedient to Gods word all good will ultimately come out of every situation. Cast all your cares, burdens into the lap of Mary and seek Gods will through and with her for your life.

Pondering Our Lady of Loreto

Dearest of mothers, pray for us.
Model of motherhood prayer for us.

Continuing our reflection on the litany of Loreto we now come to the invocation that we know by experience to be so very true !

Dearest of Mothers, of whom all other motherhood, biological and spiritual have their source and inspiration.

The expectation of becoming a mother for the first time can be daunting, and for certain temperaments, a fearful one, albeit there is within it a divine joy, a joy that comes from God that new life has been conceived.

We look to Mary as the perfect example and model of Motherhood, her attitude despite her initial perplexity and holy fear of welcoming her unborn child with all her heart.Of giving time and herself to the young dependant Jesus, for the giving of her body, her heart to the time Christ Child.

For all the humble services, all the little acts of love that pertain to parenthood. For being ' present ' and not absent to his needs, and as he grew up supporting his 'mission' even though at times she did not understand it.

For the giving of herself, her time with all the sacrifices that involved that he would grow and become fully human and independent in his own right.

For the willingness to let this priceless treasure Jesus in one sense go to do his Fathers will.
For the example of her tender and most beautiful love for her spouse Joseph radiate to allow Gods son to know the beauty of a human family.

For being faithful, constant to her son in his Passion and that supreme sharing..... death... for her fidelity to the end ! despite all the pain and suffering she experienced from seeing the agony both mental and physical of her son.

For her faithfulness to his beliefs and ideals after he had passed from this life..her life was spent for him, she did not look for reward but only to be that love which believes all things, hopes all things and endures all things.... This is such a mirror for us all, yes, Model of motherhood pray for us.

Saint Daniel Comboni

St. Daniel Comboni, 1831-1881

This divine Heart bore the wound of the enemy's lance, in order to pour forth from that sacred wound the sacraments through which the Church was founded. This Heart has never ceased to love men, and continues to live on our altars, a prisoner of love and a victim of propitiation for the whole world.
Daniel Comboni

The Italian founder of the Comboni Family, with several Institutes and Congregation to help Africa. The Comboni Family continue their work today with priests, brothers and sisters ministering in hospitals, schools, and orphanages in 41 countries.

Novena
O Father, through the admirable and boundless confidence in you with which you filled the heart of Saint Daniel Comboni, Have Mercy On Us. Glory Be to The Father ......

O Father, through the spirt of sacrifice and the heroic love of the Cross that burned in the heart of Saint Daniel Comboni, Have Mercy On Us. Glory Be to The Father .....

O Father, through the ardent zeal for the poorest and most abandoned souls that inflamed the heart of Saint Daniel Comboni, Have Mercy On Us. Glory Be to The Father ....

PRAYER:
Through the merits and intercession of Saint Daniel Comboni, who spent his entire life seeking your glory and the spreading of your Kingdom among the peoples of Africa, grant me, O Father, the grace for which I now pray .......(silent prayer). You who live and reign for ever and ever. Amen

Some of these links have beautiful readings to help us as we accept our cross today, we pray that they bring you hope and comfort.

"Adopt an Unwanted Child or Baby"

Pray for Life!!!! Let us continue our 40 days of reflection on life, and give thanks to God for life in all its forms. Oh how very, very beautiful it is for those unable to conceive a child to adopt an unwanted child or baby ..this too is a gift of the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit places a desire in the hearts of the would be parents to nurture, protect and bring forth life.

In every situation in life there are advantages and disadvantages, but one of the great blessings for a child of adoption is the realization how much, how very much it is wanted, and loving desire is beautiful it is also a prayer. How many children know joy, have the blessings of parenthood through adoption?

Countless and indeed in some families even more than one child. These parents are not one breath less true parents than its biological parents, indeed parenting is far more than simply producing children, it is born of love and service, bonding and the sharing of joy and tears. All parenthood should speak to us of God, and adoption has much to say because we are all adopted children of our heavenly Father, wanted and loved. The most profound and beautiful lesson any child can ever learn is that it is loved, because this enables the child to love and respond in turn.

An adopted child will have its struggles, it will have its challenges especially when it has to cope with former rejection, but to know that it was so wanted, prayed for, suffered for, longed for will give the child ultimately a deep security, for none of us can exist without love.

So let us pray for all families nurturing life with a new child in their midst, for all those who are contemplating adoption, and give thanks for them all, they too are great apostles for life !!!

Letter for Life

Dearest Little hearts,

We are on the verge of World wide Rosary day, a day set apart by the Universal Church for prayer, turning in a special way to Mary Our Mother and Queen for aid.

Let us prepare our own hearts today by repentance for our failures to respond to the love of God and our failures in our lack of response to serve and love others..... thus bringing our hearts into tune with the spirit of the day and entering into this great song of prayer.

All around the world, parishes, communities, families, individuals in every walk of life will be praying in some degree.the Rosary...It is not the amount of prayers we offer to God but the love that motivates them , so let us give it our full attention in as far as we can in our struggling and often distracted humanity.

Here at the monastery we will be having a day set apart for this praying of the Rosary with continuous Exposition and the praying of our hours. Join us in spirit, we have the greatest weapons in our hands against evil, the Rosary and our hours ( the Word of God) let us use them to the full and PRAY FOR LIFE, FOR PEACE WITH JUSTICE..... let us support the 40 day campaign for life with prayer, because without it all the plans of men will fall upon a barren wayside.

Let us offer to our heavenly Mother the rose of our love, our very hearts for souls !!

Immaculate Conception
Novena Prayer
of

Hail, holy Lady,

Most holy Queen,

Mary, Mother of God,

Virgin made Church;

Chosen by the most holy Father in heaven,

consecrated by him,

with his most holy beloved Son

and the Holy Spirit, the Comforter.

On you descended and in you still remains

all the fulness of grace

and every good.

Hail, his Palace.

His Tabernacle.

Hail, his Robe.

Hail, his Handmaid.

Hail, his Mother.

And Hail, all holy Virtues

who, by the grace

and inspiration of the Holy Spirit,

are poured forth into the hearts

so that, faithless no longer,

they may be made faithful servants of God

through you.

Saint Therese ~ Feast Day

Happy Feast Day
Therese!!!

“After my death I will let fall a shower of roses”.
“I will spend my Heaven doing good on earth.”

Prayer to St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus
Teach us how to open our hearts
Without reserve
to the Holy Spirit
as you did,
to seek and find God’s will
in all the crisis and choices,
in the joys and disappointments
of our lives.
Gain for us too
the grace to do His will
with courage and untroubled hearts
so that we may radiate a joy and a
gladness like yours
in the service of Our Lord.
Amen.
